Why Did I Do This?

It's been one of those weeks where everything feels off. Work has been mundane to the point of monotony, mind-numbing reports and endless meetings about nothing substantial. My partner, Alex, is wonderful in every other sense but hasn't shown any interest in exploring the particular kink that's on my mind right now. It's like being stuck in a comfortable routine but craving something new and exciting. I've been holding back for weeks, trying to figure out how to bring it up without scaring Alex away or making them feel pressured. This week, though, I just couldn't resist anymore. Last night, as we were winding down from dinner at home, I found myself blurting out a request for CNC roleplay, something that's always fascinated me but seems like such an unspoken taboo. The look on Alex’s face was one of confusion and then, gradually, concern. They asked if I was okay, if work had been getting to me too much lately. Of course, the answer is yes, but it didn't feel right to bring up my fantasies there and then. Instead, we ended up having a lengthy discussion about boundaries, comfort levels, and what makes us tick in our relationship. Reflecting on it now, I realize how unprepared I was for this conversation. I wanted the fantasy so badly that I felt almost compelled to act before thinking things through properly. But as Alex pointed out during our talk, just because we feel a desire doesn't mean we should pursue it without fully understanding all sides of the equation first. I’m left wondering if there’s some underlying issue here, whether my lack of fulfillment at work is spilling over into areas I never expected. Or perhaps it's simply that everyone has their own unique set of fantasies and desires, and sometimes those don’t align perfectly within a relationship. Whatever the reason, this week has been a wake-up call for me to be more mindful about how my thoughts influence my actions.
