A Lie Behind the Bar

Anonymous Unhinged Vixen #709 · General

I was working my usual shift at the bar last night when I noticed one of our regulars, Tom, seemed upset. He was complaining about a flat tire and how it ruined his day. Feeling sympathetic, but also wanting to make my job easier, I lied and told him that there was free pizza in the back for anyone who had car trouble. There wasn't any pizza at all, but seeing the way he perked up and left with a smile made me feel better about fibbing. Yet as the night went on, I kept thinking about how dishonest I'd been, even if it was to make someone's day brighter, it still gnaws at my conscience.
