Caught Myself Desiring More Than I Should Have
Anonymous Naughty Devil #744 · General
I’ve been married to David for twenty years now. We have a wonderful life together, two kids in college, and our own little house by the beach where we spend most weekends when it’s not too hot. It all looks perfect from the outside. But lately, I’ve found myself looking at younger men with more... vigor than before. Not that I was ever completely blind to their appeal, but now it feels different, urgent even. And no matter how hard I try to push these thoughts away, they keep coming back like an unwanted guest in my own head. I’m a professor, so there’s plenty of younger men around all the time. They’re smart, driven, and full of life, everything I’ve been through more of recently, now that David and I are just living day-to-day instead of building our careers together like we did when we were first married. Last month, one student in particular caught my eye during a class discussion about philosophy. He was passionate, eloquent, and had this way of looking at me that made the air feel charged every time he spoke. I tried to ignore it, told myself I wasn’t interested, but that’s when it happened. We were grading final papers one evening in my office. The room was dimly lit by a small lamp on my desk and there was this moment where his eyes met mine across the table, full of something I couldn’t quite read. Before I knew what I was doing, I leaned forward, my body betraying me. I kissed him. It wasn’t much, just a quick brush against his lips that didn’t even last long enough for it to count as real. But it felt like lightning had struck inside of me. My heart pounded so loud in my ears and there was this rush of heat all over my body. He pulled back, eyes wide with surprise but also something else, a mix of shock and arousal that I could see even from across the table. The silence that followed seemed to stretch on for hours until he finally stuttered out an apology and left quickly without another word. I haven’t seen him since then, though I’ve wondered about it every day since. It was wrong, there’s no denying that, David would be furious if he ever found out. But part of me still can’t stop thinking about those moments in my office, how close we were, and what might have happened if I hadn’t stopped myself. And now here I am, confessing this to strangers online instead of dealing with the guilt on my own. Maybe it’s a sign that something needs to change, either within me or between David and I, but right now all I know is that I’m stuck in this weird, uncomfortable place inside my head.
