Caught in the Moment of Letting Go

I recently ended a long-term relationship and it's been tough adjusting to being single again. One night, after weeks of trying to stay away from my ex, I found myself at her apartment. She was surprised but not upset, and we talked for hours about everything that had happened between us. As the evening wore on, the old pull started to come back. We ended up in bed together, just for a moment, because it felt like coming home after being lost for so long. It was beautiful yet heartbreaking, knowing we couldn't continue this way. Now, I'm left wondering if that night was really necessary or if it just delayed the inevitable. Sometimes the past seems easier to deal with than facing what's next.
