Patient Boundaries Crossed

I'm in my 30s and married. I work as a nurse, and recently crossed a line with a patient who's also a woman. We had been chatting for weeks, she was going through some tough medical stuff. One night, we exchanged numbers to keep in touch better; she seemed lonely too. I began to worry about our friendship lines blurring into something else. She'd send me flirty texts and I’d tell her no because of my marriage vows. But she kept pushing, asking how much she could say or do before it crossed the line. We had a shift where she came in early for tests. Waiting alone in her room felt electric with tension as we talked more intimately than ever before. She kissed me and I pulled away once, she whispered she was fine if I wanted to stop anytime. So I didn't. We got caught up together but made sure everything was consensual every step of the way. I still feel defiantly proud that I listened to her wishes, even though it went against my usual strict rules. It wasn’t just about me, I helped her in a moment she needed someone close by her side.
