My Kink Broke My Relationship
Anonymous Naughty Menace #888 · General
I’ve been in a committed relationship with Alex for three years. We’re both pretty open and experimental about sex, but recently I realized something about myself that’s caused major rifts between us: I have this kink of being tied up and whipped during sex. It’s intense, but it’s my absolute favorite way to be intimate with someone. Alex has always been very supportive of me exploring different aspects of our sexuality together. But when I finally worked up the courage to tell them about this specific fantasy a couple weeks ago, they were totally unresponsive. They just sorta looked at me blankly and said it didn’t interest them. So here we are: for days now, I’ve been trying to bring it up again, asking if we can talk about it more or even try some light stuff together since my kink isn’t a deal-breaker in itself. Alex always deflects though. It’s like the conversation never happened but they won’t just say no outright either. And that’s the worst part: I know deep down, this is about me and not them at all. Every time we try to talk or have sex now, I feel so insecure and nervous, will Alex ever be comfortable with my kink? Does it make me a bad partner or weird? Today, we ended up arguing again because I tried to initiate another awkward conversation around the topic. But when they pushed back and said how frustrated this makes them, something snapped. I blurted out all of these ridiculous fears, that Alex is going to leave because of my kink, or think less of me now, even though we’re supposed to be exploring this together. And then I just kind of shut down and left the house for a walk alone. But as I walked through the park, it hit me: this isn’t about whether Alex likes my kink back. This is about my own insecurities bubbling up whenever I talk about sex and my desires, it’s me, not them. Back at home, I can still feel those anxieties gnawing away but also know the real issue here is within myself. I need to learn how to communicate without pushing things when Alex isn’t ready, while still being honest about what turns me on and needing that intimacy in my sex life.
