Late Night Secrets

I've been married to my wife for thirty years now, and it's been great. We've had our ups and downs but overall, a solid relationship. But there's this one thing that I just can't shake from when we first got together, back then she would sometimes sneak out of the house late at night to go dancing with her friends. We both agreed early on that she shouldn’t do it anymore after our wedding day came around. Yet last month, something happened: she went out and never told me about it until two weeks later. It was just a few drinks at a bar with some old buddies, but still... This kind of thing has been nagging at the back of my mind for months now. You know how sometimes you get stuck in this rut? Where your life is good and everything's fine on the surface but inside you're feeling lost or like there’s something missing? It’s weird because I love her so much, really do. She means the world to me. But it feels like we’ve stopped growing together somehow, or that maybe she has and I haven’t. Maybe it was just a night out for fun, but I keep thinking about those early years when dancing used to mean something different. It’s silly really, because my wife is such an open person now. We talk about everything, have nothing left to hide from each other anymore, or at least that's what I thought. The way she acted like it was no big deal, trying to brush it off... It just made me wonder if there might be other things too. Sometimes when I’m in bed late at night, staring up at the ceiling, all these thoughts swirl around in my head and make me feel so alone even though we’re right next to each other. But then she’ll squeeze my hand or say something sweet that reminds me how much we do have together, love, a home, kids. So I’m not sure what this is about. Maybe it’s just time for another conversation? To see if there's really more going on here or if I'm overthinking things. Or maybe just to share my feelings and clear the air before it festers inside like an old wound.
