My Ex and I Rekindled the Flame (Sort Of)

So here’s this thing that happened after my divorce. You know how it goes, you’re moving on, feeling independent, when out of nowhere, your ex shows up at a mutual friend's party. It was awkward, to say the least. But as we talked and caught up, there was something in the air. This electricity, this spark that hadn’t dimmed even after months apart. Next thing you know, I’m sitting on his couch with a bottle of wine, us reminiscing about old times. Before I knew it, I found myself leaning closer to him. The way he looked at me then, it was like no time had passed at all. So we went ahead and...well, let's just say things got heated again. It wasn’t planned or expected, but in the moment, it felt right. We were both careful about boundaries this time around, agreed that any physical closeness wouldn't compromise our new separate lives. Yet, there I was, finding myself swept up by old feelings and forgetting all about those supposed boundaries for a night. The next morning, we both knew it wasn’t sustainable long-term. That spark had to fade eventually, right? But here’s the kicker, even though I’m glad I let go of my inhibitions that one night, the aftermath left me conflicted. On one hand, it was an intense release and reminded me why he was once so compelling. Yet, on the other, every moment spent together after brought up painful reminders of what I wanted to leave behind. In short, a fiery reunion ended with lingering questions about whether the fire could truly burn without old attachments getting in the way. Guess it’s time for some more hard conversations and figuring out how to move forward without looking back.
