A Lie About Laundry

I can't believe I lied about doing the laundry. It was such a stupid thing to lie about. After work one day, my husband asked why the clothes weren’t in the dryer when he checked after school. He said it didn’t matter now since we were going out to dinner and wouldn’t be home until late. But I couldn't tell him that actually, I forgot all about it because I ran into a friend at the coffee shop who had just gotten back from her honeymoon. We spent hours catching up over drinks and lost track of time. How could something so insignificant end up turning into such a lie?
