A Date Night That Wasn't Just One Night

So there I was, a software engineer in an open relationship trying to juggle multiple connections while keeping my life somewhat normal. Last week, I thought I'd give something new a try and asked one of my other partners if they wanted to be exclusive for the next month. They were excited about it but had a caveat: we needed to do roleplay every time we met up. It started off innocent enough, just pretending we were dating casually like in high school, complete with playful bickering and secret touches that only us two understood. But then things escalated into more adult scenarios, like being trapped in an elevator and having to make the best of it... or getting stuck at a hotel during a business trip and deciding to turn it into a romantic getaway. It was fun while it lasted, but by the end of the month, I realized this wasn't what either of us really wanted long-term. We decided to revert back to our open relationship status, still friends with benefits, but without all the roleplay dynamics. Surprisingly though, we're both okay with that, the novelty wore off, and now we can focus on building something more grounded together.
