A Patient's Unexpected Request

Yesterday, I had the oddest experience during a routine check-up. A patient, let’s call him John, started to complain about back pain but then veered off into asking me if I could help with something 'more personal.' After ensuring he was fully sober and sane, it became clear he wanted some assistance with a sexual health matter, not exactly part of my job description. Despite everything inside me screaming no, there was this weird part of me intrigued by the taboo nature of it all. Eventually, I declined politely but professionally and suggested he find a therapist instead. It’s one thing to have an unusual day at work; it’s quite another to actually consider participating in something like that. Thankfully, my moral compass is intact.
