The Lie that Got Away

Last week, I went out with my friend's brother for drinks. He has this new app where he can track the calories of everything we eat or drink. We were at a bar and he ordered a few rounds to celebrate a small promotion his company just gave him. As he started tallying up each drink’s calorie count, I got tired of being reminded how many empty calories I was consuming and told him I wasn't drinking any more alcohol for the night.
But here's where things get a little tricky: while he stepped away to go to the bathroom, I snuck into his app and added a couple extra drinks under my name just as he had been doing. It was petty, and it served no purpose except for making me feel momentarily vindicated against someone who seemed so health-conscious it felt like a judgment. The next day when we got together, he looked at the logs in his app and said how impressive it was that I stuck to my guns. Of course, nothing about what I did was true but saying anything would only have caused an unnecessary scene.
