A Small White Lie

So I did this thing the other day. Not a huge deal, but it made me laugh thinking about it afterwards, so here goes. My partner's birthday was coming up and she’s been stressing over picking out gifts for her friends and family, which is like her whole MO every year, gets super worked up over little presents. So I went ahead and picked up something for her mom because I know how much she’d appreciate it but didn’t want to put more pressure on her. But here’s the funny part: I told my partner that I ‘borrowed’ a book from the library, you know, so she wouldn't feel bad about not getting one herself. She’s gonna find out eventually, obviously, because everything eventually gets found out with us. And honestly? It feels kinda good to have pulled something off all by myself for once.
