A Small Lie

I recently started a job at a new company and got assigned a locker in the staff room. The previous occupant had left some old snacks behind, mostly chips and cookies that looked long past their prime. Rather than throw them out or tell my supervisor about it, I took them home for myself. I justified it by thinking no one would notice such an insignificant amount of food was gone. But the guilt lingered, knowing I essentially stole from someone else's locker who likely paid for those snacks themselves.
