Lying About My Job Schedule

So I've been seeing this girl for a few weeks now. We're both just dating casually without any real commitment or exclusivity yet. She's really nice and we have good chemistry, but she also works regular 9 to 5 hours so we don't see each other as much as I'd like. I'm actually on night shift at my job, working from around 10 PM until about 7 AM every day. This means that by the time I'm free and awake during the daytime, she's usually already heading to work or just getting home late after a long day herself. We only really get to spend quality time together when we're both off work on weekends. So last week, when she suggested going out for dinner Friday night before her shift starts early Saturday morning, I had this idea in my head that I wanted to make it special and surprise her. But there was no way for me to be home then as usual, because of the night shift schedule. So instead of telling her about my work hours, which would've made me seem less available or interesting, I said something vague like 'I'm tied up with work but maybe we can meet later.' She didn't push it at first, and that was okay for a while because she understands I have a job. But then over the weekend when she asked me to grab coffee Monday morning before her shift starts, I did the same thing again, telling her I had meetings and work stuff going on instead of just saying 'I'm still doing night shifts.' And it's killing me because now I feel like a complete liar. She deserves honesty from someone she's dating, even if it means we're seeing each other less often at the moment until my schedule changes. Plus, I really don't want to give her this impression that I'm constantly busy and too important to see her, it’s not true at all. What kind of asshole lies about his work schedule just because he doesn't want to seem like a lazy night owl?
