My Kink and My Partner's Limitations

I'm thirty-five, a high school teacher. I've been with my partner for four years now, and we have a good relationship, though there's one thing that always stands out as a difference between us: my kink involving role-play scenarios where I assume the role of an authority figure and she plays the student. It's something that turns me on like nothing else, but unfortunately, it's a line she can't cross in her mind. To be clear, we've tried before; every time she tells me no, I respect that, though my heart races with longing when she does. She says she enjoys the concept intellectually, understands it and even supports me exploring it through safe, consensual solo activities like videos or stories, but the actual act of us together is too much for her to engage in physically. Over the past year, I've become increasingly curious about my own limits regarding this kink, so I began incorporating elements that don't involve direct role-play. For instance, we might have a conversation over dinner where I'll gently remind her to address me as 'sir' or she'll use a student nickname during sex, but even these mild references sometimes send her into an anxious tailspin. It's a fine line; the way she responds is telling yet frustrating. On one hand, it proves how deeply my desire for this dynamic runs, it's not just a phase or something superficial, but on another hand, I feel like I'm pushing our boundaries more than exploring them together. Ultimately, while I'm grateful and proud of what we have, there’s a part of me that wonders if I need to face this kink alone in the future. Maybe find someone who can engage with my fantasies more closely. But at the same time, I’m unsure if that's fair to either of us or if it will ever lead to long-term satisfaction. What do you think? Should I continue pushing for what I want within our current relationship? Or is it healthier to pursue this elsewhere while maintaining what we have?
