An Unusual Request

I’m a professor in my early fifties and have been happily married for over twenty years. Recently, my wife suggested we try something new: role-playing an age gap scenario where I was the strict parent and she took on a more submissive student-like role. The dynamic felt oddly empowering to both of us. It left me feeling exhilarated yet slightly out of place in our otherwise conventional marriage. Is this normal for long-term relationships? Any advice?
