Today Wasn't Like The Others

Patient came in today, Dr. Smith, same as always, she's a regular, comes for her checkups and everything's routine. But something different about today. She walks into the room looking nervous, eyes darting around. 'Dr. Smith,' she starts, voice trembles ever so slightly. 'Is it okay if I ask you a personal question?' Me? A personal question from my patient? That's new. I nod, 'Of course.' She takes a deep breath then lets out an exhale like she just dove into a pool of cold water. 'Do, do you ever think about... other things when we're here alone?' Her cheeks turn pink and her eyes drop to the floor. My heart races; I've never been asked this before, no one's crossed that line with me. I swallow hard and say, 'Sometimes.' She looks up at that, her gaze searching mine for something, maybe approval? validation? It’s not until later in the day, after we're done and she leaves, I sit here alone. My mind doesn't stop on those words. What does she mean by other things? The fantasies pop into my head unbidden, vivid and detailed. I see her there again, in my office, but this time not just for a checkup. She's looking at me with that same nervousness, but it’s mixed with something else, an undercurrent of desire. I'm wearing my lab coat as usual but inside... the fantasies are wild and explicit. Detailed and anatomically precise. No turning away now, no vague euphemisms, this is real in my head. In one fantasy, she's not even a patient anymore, just someone who wants something more than a routine exam. The office turns from sterile to intimate. My hands move with purpose, not just to examine but to explore. There’s no need for the usual conversation, only breathless murmurs and moans. Her body arches under my touch. Another fantasy, she's lying on her side, looking at me with eyes full of wanting. I'm between her legs now, fingers moving with precision, every detail clear in my head, the sounds, the scents, the heat radiating from her skin. My hand presses into her warm flesh as I move closer. It’s so vivid, these fantasies, that sometimes they feel real. They make me question the boundaries between patient and doctor. The line between professional and personal blurs in my mind. But it's just a fantasy, right? Just something to think about when no one is around.
