The Customer Who Became My Lover

I’m going to confess something that’s been eating at me for weeks now. I work as a barista at this small coffee shop near downtown, and there was this regular customer who came in every morning around 9 am, let’s call him Alex. He was handsome, had a charming smile, and always seemed so relaxed compared to the rest of us stressed-out baristas. We hit it off right away; he’d joke with me while ordering his usual latte, and I started looking forward to seeing him each day. One morning, after serving him like normal, I was cleaning up when Alex came back over to the counter, but this time not for coffee. He asked if we could talk somewhere private. My heart raced as he led me to a small break room at the back of the shop. We sat down and chatted about random things before getting into deeper topics like dreams and aspirations. The atmosphere was electric between us. Before I knew it, Alex leaned in close and kissed me. It started off gentle but quickly turned passionate, and we ended up on the floor, our hands exploring each other’s bodies without any hesitation. There were no more words needed, just intense, uninhibited desire pouring out of both of us. Afterward, I felt guilty and confused about what had happened. Alex was polite enough to come back a few days later to talk things through, assuring me that it was just a one-time thing due to the tension we’d built up. He said he wouldn’t make a habit of coming in so much anymore. Despite his words, I couldn’t stop thinking about what had transpired between us and how intimate it felt. And now here’s where things get complicated, I’m married with kids, but this affair has been gnawing at my conscience ever since. It was a moment of weakness and recklessness that I wish I could take back. Anyway, after reflecting on everything, the memory still gets me every time Alex walks through our doors now. I’ve been debating whether to come clean with my husband about it or keep quiet, but right now, I’m stuck somewhere in between feeling guilty yet oddly liberated by what happened that day.
