A Lie I Told My Students

I’m not sure why I did it. Maybe I just wanted them to think better of me, but I lied about my qualifications and experience when I applied for the teaching job here at Pinegrove High School. It was just a small embellishment, saying that I had completed an extra certification program I never actually took part in. But every time someone asks how it’s going or if I’ve hit any roadblocks, I have to lie again to maintain my story. The guilt eats away at me more and more each day.
