Late Night Fantasies in an Empty Classroom

I've been teaching high school for five years now, and I swear every day feels like another step into a rut. Don't get me wrong, the kids are great, but lately all I see when I look at them is my own tired reflection, wishing I could just escape this cycle of marking papers and planning lessons. It's funny how the thought of someone walking in on me usually sends panic through my body, but last night... Well, it was different. In that empty classroom after school, sitting alone with the desks pushed to one side for a book club meeting we never had, something inside clicked. I imagined what it would be like if one of those kids walked in, someone older, more confident, not just another student at all. But then reality slapped me back hard; they were all still just that, my students. So instead, I gave in to the fantasy. My hands touched me as though he was there, his warm breath on my neck as I pretended him, an imaginary lover with a deep voice and a wicked grin, whispering exactly what I wanted to hear. The room spun around me, filled with the promise of release from all this monotony, even if it was only in my own head.
