When Love and Loneliness Merge Unexpectedly
Anonymous Shameless Siren #313 · General
Since I left my ex a few months ago, I’ve found myself spending days on end alone with my thoughts. The house feels so quiet, but there’s this constant hum in the back of my mind that won’t be silenced. It started small, just reminders here and there about things we used to do together, but soon it became something more intense. One day, as I was walking through our old neighborhood, a memory came crashing down on me, us, lying under the stars, sharing secrets and dreams. I didn’t expect it would make my skin tingle in the way it did back then. I ended up at his door before I knew what I was doing. We hadn’t talked for weeks. But there we were, standing face-to-face after all this time apart. He looked different, stronger somehow, and suddenly everything I thought about him and us came flooding back. For a moment, it felt like the universe had shifted and brought us together again. But then reality set in, and he gently reminded me of where we were now. It was good to talk though; we did things differently before, and maybe that’s what’s been missing for both of us. Still, I can’t shake this feeling, that I’m not quite ready to let go yet. Am I being irrational? Is it normal to still want so much from someone who isn’t there anymore?
