Marines Have Their Own Kind Of Wild Night In Town

So, I've been married to my husband for five years now. He's a career Marine and we move every two or so. It's always the same story: get stationed somewhere, meet some locals, then it's all about who can stand to be on base longest before they're bored out of their mind. You get me? Anyway, this last place, he was deployed...and I felt a little lost without him around. The neighbors were nice enough but just friends in the loosest sense you know? Then there was Jack. He's about my age, thirty-two or so and works at a local bar on weekends. We started out as just friends too. Funny how that changes sometimes isn't it? It wasn't anything overt either, more like small talk turned into longer conversations, then drinks together after work. I mean, he didn't pressure me or anything...but I guess I was feeling a little lonely and we both had this thing for each other from the start. It started to get really complicated though when we decided it would just be fun and nothing serious. Jack's married too you see. He's got two kids but they live with his ex-wife in another state...long story. Anyway, so one night he showed up at my place with a bottle of wine and I thought maybe this was it? You know how it goes. He said we should just take the night to let off some steam. And yeah, that's what happened. We didn't talk much after that but somehow I knew everything would be okay. The sex...wow. It wasn't like anything I've experienced before. There was this intensity, this understanding between us, no need for words really. His hands were everywhere and he knew just how to make me feel without having to ask first. He's got a bit of a rough side but it turns out I'm not the prissy type who minds that sort of thing... We did all sorts of things that night. We talked about this, talked about that...but mostly we kept quiet and let our bodies take over. It was exhausting really, like running an emotional marathon just to feel alive for a minute. Afterward though, I felt pretty empty somehow. I haven't seen Jack since then and honestly probably won't again anytime soon either way. It's not that I regret it but...well, you know how these things go when someone is only around for a little while before they're gone again. Sometimes the best memories are just that, brief moments of wildness in an otherwise tame life.
