Heartbreak at the Gym
Anonymous Reckless Temptress #562 · General
I just broke up with my long-term boyfriend of three years. We were both trainers at our local gym, and we worked out together every day, building each other up physically and emotionally. After a heated argument about his work schedule versus mine, it was clear that our relationship had run its course. He wanted more stability, I needed the freedom to explore my career further. The funny thing is, now I’m actually training less because the gym feels empty without him. The walls are still lined with his photos from competitions and fitness challenges we used to participate in together. It’s strange how a place can suddenly feel so hollow when the person you’re connected to isn’t there anymore. I know it sounds silly, but I keep expecting to see him or for us to have another conversation that might change things. But as each day passes and he avoids me like any other member, I realize we are truly over. Does anyone else feel this way after a breakup? Is it normal for physical spaces to become so emotionally charged when an important person leaves them behind?
