A Casual Afternoon Fling

So today at work, I had a pretty good day overall. The cafe was slow and I managed to catch up on some reading between serving customers. But then around 4 PM, this one regular walks in, let's call him Jake. He's been coming in for months now, usually just ordering coffee and browsing the internet with his laptop. Anyway, today he seems really amped up when he comes in. He orders a latte and asks me to take a seat at his table while it’s being made. I’m like, okay? And then out of nowhere, he starts talking about how attractive he finds me. It's not the first time, but something feels different today. So after a few minutes of small talk, Jake gets a bit more direct and asks if I'm in an open relationship or ever do anything on the side. I tell him yes, which is true, and he looks relieved or excited or both. He then invites me to his place later that day for some fun. I end up staying late at work, wrapping things up around 6 PM. Then I head over to Jake’s place after grabbing a quick bite somewhere else. We spend a few hours together, just enjoying each other's company, exploring some new dynamics we both found intriguing but hadn't really delved into before. It was definitely more casual and less serious than what we might be with our primary partners. The thing is, even though it’s not like I never do this sort of thing, it always feels a bit surreal afterward. Wondering why some days lead to these spontaneous interactions while others don't. Maybe it's just the vibe in the air or how he looked today, but whatever it was, it certainly wasn’t something that could have happened if I were with one person exclusively. So yeah, another day at work turns into an unexpected adventure. Pretty sure everyone has a story like this, right? Or am I just special?
