A Secret From My Shift

I've been working as a barista for almost two years now, but ever since my divorce last month, everything feels different. I'm not myself anymore. At the coffee shop today, something happened that's really bothering me and I feel ashamed just thinking about it. During a quiet moment when no one was around, this new customer came in and... well, we ended up talking more than necessary. He said some things, whispered some other things, and before I knew it, there was tension building between us. It's not like I don't think about the past, my ex and me were married for so long that I guess parts of him are still inside me in a way. But this guy... he got to me somehow. He wasn't just talking; he was looking at me as if I was someone else, someone new. Then it happened. We didn't do anything illegal or even really cross any lines, but something felt off. There were moments where we almost crossed the boundary of professionalism, and that scares me because I respect my job too much to let this kind of thing happen again. I keep wondering what brought us there. Was it his charm? My loneliness? Something else entirely? It's confusing because I've never acted like that before at work. Maybe it was just the thrill of doing something out of character, breaking a rule, even if only in my mind and not really physically. Anyway, I'm just trying to process this and figure out how to avoid such situations going forward. I don't know what's coming next, but I hope whatever happens is better than this.
