A Brief Encounter

I’m married but recently had an encounter with another woman when my spouse was deployed. It felt surreal and distant, more like a clinical procedure than something personal or emotional. We met discreetly at her place for two sessions over the course of a week. I don’t regret it in the traditional sense; it’s just there now, part of who I am and what happened while he was away. It’s done with, but it lingers like an old wound that needs time to heal.
