Shift Ended But Not Quite Ready For Bed Yet

Well, after another long shift in the ICU, I thought I'd just crash at home tonight. But it's funny how sometimes your brain doesn't turn off even when you want to sleep. So there I was, all alone, and feeling a little restless. Figured I might as well indulge myself for once, since it’s not like anyone else is around to see or judge. I started with the usual stuff, some soft music on the radio, dimming the lights, setting the mood. But then, being in my 30s and all, I had this unexpected thought: what if it was someone else here? Someone who could take care of me like a patient would want to be taken care of. Not just physically, but emotionally too, the kind of attention that leaves you feeling truly cared for. I found myself getting into it, exploring parts of my body and imagination I hadn’t in years. It was strange, but also surprisingly freeing. Just letting go and enjoying the luxury of solitude without any real-life responsibilities hanging over me. It’s a funny thing to confess, just venting that sometimes you need more than a simple nightcap.
