another academic adventure

ok so this is one of those stories that happens and you just have to shrug your shoulders at the end. teaching summer school for a bunch of undergrads, always a little extra edge because it's literally three weeks straight of them on top of each other 24/7. had my favorite student come knocking at my office door late one night, he's been doing well in class, but mostly i like his smile and the way he talks about ideas, you know? anyway so he's here looking a little bit nervous but also all flustered, says he needs to talk, and as soon as i give him the green light he just blurts out that he’s been thinking of me all summer. oh my god, the look on his face...he really meant it. i mean it was consensual roleplay to make him feel better about an essay or something like that but boy did we end up going down a rabbit hole with that one. don't know if i'll see him again after this semester but at least he's handing in some of the best work yet.
