Lying About My Salary

So here's the thing, I've been keeping a little secret from my partner for years now. She thinks we're doing okay financially and that our expenses are covered, but let me tell you, it hasn't always been smooth sailing. A few months ago, when she asked about my year-end review and salary bump, I just couldn't bring myself to say no. I mean, who wants to hear their partner is getting squeezed tighter and tighter by a penny-pinching boss? So, I fibbed. I told her everything was fine and that the raise would make up for all the overtime I wasn't getting paid. It felt like a relief at first, but now it just sits heavy in my gut. She deserves to know the truth, the worry, the stress over bills and savings, she shouldn't have to guess or wonder about any of this while trying to plan her own future too.
