Caught in the Act - Was It My Fault?

Anonymous Unhinged Sinner #473 · General

So here's this thing that happened last night. I've been married to Jane for over twenty years now. We're both in our forties, and we have a good life. But sometimes, I feel like there's just something missing. Not from my marriage or anything, but like, inside of me. You know what I mean? It was really late when I got home from work last night, around midnight. Jane was already asleep. I felt so alone in the house. So I turned on some music and had a couple drinks to unwind. That's when she woke up. She asked if everything was okay with me. I told her I was fine but feeling lonely and just wanted company. We ended up talking for a while, then started kissing. But before things got too heated, she stopped and said we should wait until morning. She had work early the next day. So I went to sleep thinking about how I felt more relaxed and connected with Jane that night. But this morning, everything changes. As soon as I walk into work, my boss pulls me aside and says he got a call from one of our clients. They were really upset over something I did the previous evening during a client meeting. Turns out, I made some inappropriate sexual comments about their female staff member while drunk on video chat. I had no idea! My boss is furious. He said it's completely unprofessional and could cost us the account. How could this have happened? Was it really my fault for being lonely and feeling disconnected from Jane that night, or was there something more going on with me that made me act out inappropriately? I'm so embarrassed. Now I feel even more distant and uncertain about myself.
