A Lie About Laundry

I lied to my partner about finishing the laundry last week. I told him it was done when I actually only sorted the clothes into piles but didn't put them in the washer or dryer yet. It’s a small thing, really, but it feels like more than just being forgetful. Maybe I wanted him to think I'm better at managing household chores, even though he's always supportive and never pushes me about such things. This little lie is bugging me because I can’t pinpoint exactly why I did it, pride? Laziness? Trying too hard to fit some idea of what a good partner should be?
