A Lie Told in the Heat of the Moment

So there I was, just a few weeks after the divorce papers were finalized. You know how sometimes you just want to have that perfect Instagram life? Yeah, well, my ex-husband and I had one of those moments where we agreed to keep things amicable by maintaining the illusion of a happy marriage for appearances sake. One evening, while scrolling through Facebook Live, I impulsively shared a story about us going on a romantic getaway together to Hawaii. In reality, all we did was argue over who got which piece of furniture. It felt like such a harmless fib at the time, but now every time someone congratulates me for the 'trip' online, it just makes me feel silly and slightly guilty. Sometimes, maintaining an image is harder than it looks.
