So here I am, a first-year law student in this open relationship deal. Yeah, it sounds way cooler on paper than it really is. My partner and I were like, 'let's embrace freedom and explore,' but honestly, it’s just another set of rules to follow. Last night, after a long day of case studies and mooting practice, I ended up meeting my primary outside fling at this trendy café. It was supposed to be relaxed, casual sex stuff, but there we were, whispering as if we were spies in a war zone. The irony is, the more people you play with, the less free it feels sometimes. We did what we came for, wrapped up quickly due to awkward glances from other customers and a looming curfew of sorts. Then I called my partner just to report back, like some weird update on a mission accomplished. It’s supposed to be about choice and liberation but there’s so much that’s lost in translation between the theoretical idea and actual practice.
