Caught Between Passion and Professionalism

I'm a high school teacher, let's just say Mrs. S for now. I've been in a long-term relationship with Mr. W for five years, but there’s this thing about role-playing that gets me really excited, you know, the whole ‘students’ vs. ‘teacher’ dynamic. It’s not something I’ve ever brought up with him because he doesn’t share that interest, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure if it was weird or even healthy to want such a taboo thing. Anyway, a few weeks back, we were at this party where everyone was drinking and the mood was pretty loose. Someone started talking about role-playing games and how fun they are when it's just pretend. Mr. W laughed off any idea of trying it out, but I found myself getting really turned on thinking about that power dynamic. It’s kind of silly because normally I’m all about exploring different things in our relationship, but this one always made me nervous. So last week, after we’d both had a few drinks at home, I told him exactly what was going through my mind. I explained how it wasn’t real and that the fantasy would be purely role-play. He looked shocked, then almost angry, he said stuff about respecting his position as an educator and not wanting to mix work with play. But here’s the thing: after we talked about it, instead of feeling ashamed, I felt exhilarated! Like I’d finally admitted something that had been bottled up for so long. It's just hard knowing my partner doesn’t feel the same way, or worse, finds it repulsive. So what should I do? Should I try to convince him this isn’t about crossing boundaries but just about exploring fantasies safely and with consent? Or should I accept that it’s something we won't be doing together? I know I’m not alone in having these kinds of thoughts, right? Am I the asshole for even bringing it up?
