Old Habits Die Hard

I just can't believe it's been months since I got divorced. Still, last night felt like one big time loop of the past. My ex and I had this place we used to go all the time, a little bed-and-breakfast right outside town with that old-world charm. It always made me feel young again, carefree and reckless. Last night, after all these months apart, I just couldn't resist going back there. As soon as I stepped inside, it was like nothing had changed. The scent of lavender, the dim lighting, everything reminded me of us. We used to have our little rituals, certain places in the room we would visit again and again. It took every ounce of willpower not to follow them this time around. But then she called me late at night from a number I didn't recognize. Something about how it had been too long, that she was missing those same spots in her own bed-and-breakfast memories. And before I knew it, here we were talking old times like nothing ever happened between us... until the end of the line.
