i did something i wasn't sure about last night

so my partner and i have been together for a while now, we're both in our 20s and everything is good. well mostly good. i've always been really into the idea of roleplay but never wanted to do it with them cos they seem pretty vanilla. but then one day at work i saw this guy and he was so hot and i started thinking about all these things that my partner wouldn't do. so last night we were hanging out and i just blurted out that i wanted to try roleplay, like really specific stuff. they agreed and we got into it but... it felt weird. like playing a character who was not me at all. i didn't know how to act or talk or anything. they seemed into it though which made me feel guilty cos i was just faking it and being someone else. afterwards we talked about it and i said i don't want to do it again but they were okay with that. but now im second guessing myself. is this normal? am i the asshole for not following through even though they wanted to try? or does everyone feel weird and fake sometimes when trying new things like that? i dont wanna lie to them or hurt their feelings but i also cant pretend to be someone else just to please them. any advice would be great. thanks.
