Been There, Done That, and I’m Not Looking Back

I’ve been married for almost two decades now. You’d think with all that time together, we’d be set in our ways and happy to just stick to the status quo. But my wife, let’s call her Jane, and I? We’ve always liked to mix things up a bit. The way we see it, why get stuck in one boring rut when you can explore different paths and find out what works best for both of us? So yeah, we’re non-monogamous. It sounds like something from a movie or an overly dramatic TV show, but it’s actually quite normal and healthy. And trust me, I wouldn’t have it any other way. There are times when the spice of life comes from unexpected places. For instance, last week Jane brought home someone she met online, just for fun. It was clear to both of us that it wasn’t serious, but hey, sometimes a little excitement is all you need. I remember one particularly memorable night a few years back, where things got… well, let’s just say we went beyond what people usually consider acceptable in a committed relationship. We explored the idea together, and surprisingly, it was an eye-opening experience that only brought us closer. So yeah, there are no hard-and-fast rules about who you should or shouldn’t sleep with when you’re married. And if someone tells me I’m betraying my vows because I’m being honest about my open relationship, then maybe they need to reevaluate what marriage means in the first place. What do you think? Am I just being selfish and thoughtless, or is there value in finding different ways to express love and connection?
