I Broke My Promise to Him

Last night, after months of staying faithful, I called an old flame. We hadn't seen each other in years but talked easily as if no time had passed. He came over and we ended up making love in the guest room where his old things still were. It felt wrong and right at the same time, like a secret rebellion against my military husband who is deployed far away. The guilt hit me hard afterward, knowing he’d never understand how I felt or accept this mistake.
