A Night's Regret

I thought our engagement meant I was loved as much as I love him. But last night, when he came to the bar, his eyes lingered on a customer who flirted back carelessly. I felt ignored, unwanted even, though we'd planned to spend the evening together. Driven by loneliness and insecurity, I let another regular buy me drinks, leading to something I never intended with someone else's husband. It wasn't real or meaningful, but it was selfish and hurtful to both of us. Now I'm not sure how he'll react when he finds out.
