Caught In A Moment Of Weakness

I'm a college student who recently got separated from my wife. It's been tough adjusting to the freedom and responsibility of being single again after marriage, but I thought I was handling it okay. Last week, though, everything fell apart in an instant. One night, while studying at the library, I ran into an old friend from high school who moved away years ago. We caught up over coffee, talking about our lives and how much we missed each other's company. She listened to my struggles with a kind ear that made me feel understood in a way no one else has since splitting up. As the evening went on, I found myself getting more comfortable around her, letting down my guard. We ended up staying out late drinking at some bars near campus. The alcohol and familiarity of old times blurred the line between friend and something more. When she invited me back to her place for coffee and conversation, part of me wanted to say no. I had boundaries in place for this new phase of my life. But another part, the one that had missed companionship and affection, led me there with her. What happened next was a blur of lust and regret. We ended up together, caught up in the moment's heat and desperation. It felt wrong at every turn but also like I couldn't stop even if I wanted to. In the aftermath, all that remains is this deep shame and fear about what it means for my future. I don't know how or when this will be okay again with myself, I am so ashamed of breaking from who I thought I was and being weak in letting someone else push me where I shouldn't have gone. My head knows I'm better than that, but somehow my body didn’t listen last night.
