Late Nights and Wistful Desires
Anonymous Breathless Stray #228 · General
Working late at the bar again, I see a regular customer who's always alone. He's in his mid-thirties with messy hair and tired eyes that tell me he’s been struggling more than he lets on. We've chatted once or twice, but mostly it’s just me pouring drinks and him sipping quietly. Tonight, after the bar closes and everyone else leaves, we talk a bit about our lives, him in particular being quiet about his home life. He confides that he sometimes feels drawn to CNC roleplay with strangers when lonely, seeking comfort from the fantasy of someone strong protecting him from his problems. I get what he means; there's something cathartic and immediate about it. It’s odd to think about this tonight as I’m engaged, I love my fiancé deeply, but part of me is attracted to a taboo thrill too. Should I let go with another stranger once in a while, just like him? Is it healthy or am I setting myself up for more loneliness? I worry asking for that kind of escape will only push away the real connections in life. What do you think?
