A lie at work

I took an extra hour off to go get lunch and then ran back late, but instead of telling the truth... I just said my computer glitched and made me miss the meeting. It was such a small thing in the grand scheme, right? But it's been gnawing at me all week... am I really that kind of person who'd rather lie to save face over honesty? Maybe next time I'll stick to the truth even if it's harder... but man, does the thought of admitting my mistake still feel like a punch in the gut. It's ridiculous how heavy this small fib weighs on me.
