Working from Home Isn't Always Lonely

I'm married and work from home as a freelance designer. I thought it would be great to have my partner around all day, but lately, I've felt incredibly isolated. My days are spent staring at the screen, headphones on, trying not to listen to him moving about elsewhere in the house. One night, after another long stretch of feeling disconnected and unfulfilled, we decided to try something different. We made a rule that during the weekdays, when I’m working, he would stay busy too, no distractions or lingering around me unless it’s mealtime. But one Friday afternoon, when my deadline was looming and stress levels were high, he surprised me by coming into my office. He whispered that this week had been tough for him as well, feeling neglected in our routine. We ended up letting go of everything and just being there together. It felt freeing to connect physically without the usual pressures and responsibilities weighing on us. The guilt lingered later, but the relief was real.
