Went All In On A Taboo Fantasy

So yeah, I've been single for quite a while now. Not that I mind it too much; gives me plenty of time to focus on my work and all the other stuff I enjoy doing alone. But every once in a while, something catches my eye and gets under my skin like nothing else can. This week, it was this old video from when those roleplaying games were really taking off online. The idea had always intrigued me but I'd never tried anything more than just watching others do it. But there's something about the way he talked that night, smooth, confident, and just... so sure of himself, that made me want to try my hand at being someone else for a moment. I set up everything in my room according to what was described on that video and let myself get into character. It took some time but eventually I felt like I could actually be there, walking through the scenes he'd laid out as if they were real. And yeah, it ended with me feeling things I haven't felt in a long time, intense, exciting, all of those butterflies that you remember from younger days. Now here's where things get interesting for me: how do others find their way into these kinds of scenarios? Do any of you use old media like videos to help you imagine and connect with your fantasies better?
