Desiring What's Not There

I've always been turned on by the idea of being tied up and restrained. My partner knows this but it's just not something they're into. Last night, I tried to describe in detail what getting bound would feel like, how every inch of my body would respond as if awakening from a long sleep, how each new touch would be an explosion of pleasure. But all he could do was stare at me uncomfortably. Is it weird that sometimes, imagining restraint gives me more pleasure than actual sex? Am I the only one who feels this way?
