The Long Goodbye That Wasn’t

So, uh...there’s something I need to get off my chest. See, I’ve been dating this guy for a while now, nothing too serious but definitely not just a casual fling either. We were meeting up regularly and it was going great until one night at the bar, after he had a couple of drinks more than usual. The next thing you know, we’re making plans to see each other again...which is all good except that I also met this new person earlier in the week who I really liked too. So basically, while out with my first guy friend and his buddies on a Tuesday night, I ended up texting back and forth with my other guy as well, trying to figure out logistics for a date the following evening. And it got weirder from there because we both agreed to just have this one-time thing since we were clearly both still involved with others already. ...And here’s where things get tricky. You see, in hindsight, maybe I should’ve stopped the text conversation and gone home that night instead of meeting up the next day like it was nothing. Because even though it felt casual at the time, looking back now? It feels a lot more serious than any one-night stand ever has before. And then there’s this weird guilt creeping in, wondering if I should’ve just been clear with my first guy friend from the start instead of pretending everything would stay normal. But that’s exactly what worries me, because despite everything, it does feel...normal? Weird, right? I guess my question is: Am I just being dramatic or did something actually change this time around?
