Went Too Far After A Breakup

Hey everyone, I need some advice. I just got out of a serious relationship after being with this person for two years. Everything ended pretty amicably but we both agreed it was better to be apart for now. So yeah, she's out and I'm trying to process everything. It's been hard not having her around all the time. We used to do so much together - cooking meals, watching movies, spending weekends exploring the city... There’s one thing though that happened right before we broke up that I can’t stop thinking about. A few weeks ago, she was feeling really down and asked me to be there for her. I felt terrible seeing her like this, so of course I did everything in my power to make her feel better. One night while she was staying over at my place after a tough day, things got heated between us. We were cuddled up on the couch, watching some romantic movie when all of a sudden it became very physical and emotional. I mean we kissed like crazy and it wasn’t long before things escalated way beyond what I thought would ever happen again between us. It was as if there was no tomorrow - both of us just needing each other so badly in that moment. The next morning, things were awkward and tense. We tried to talk about it but she said it meant nothing and we should focus on moving forward. Still, I can’t shake the feeling that maybe something more happened than a simple goodbye kiss. Did I cross a line? Am I an asshole for not respecting her wishes?
