I Broke My Own Rules Yesterday

Yesterday I was in the city for work and had a lunch meeting canceled at the last minute. Instead of going straight home, I wandered around aimlessly until the afternoon light started to fade. That's when I saw them... an old flame from university days. We exchanged small talk, but there was no hiding that spark still lingering between us. Before we knew it, things escalated quickly. We ended up back at their place and well, let's just say my resolve crumbled under the pressure of the moment. It feels like such a betrayal... My partner trusts me completely and I've always prided myself on being honest and open with them about everything. But this time, I wasn't sure if telling them would do more damage or not. Now all I can think about is how to make amends without hurting either of us too much.
