A Lie I Told My Ex

So my ex and I had been arguing a lot about how much time I was spending at the gym. She thought I was neglecting her for training clients, but honestly, I just needed that time to myself. One day, she caught me messaging an old friend who used to train with me before our relationship got serious. I fibbed and said it was a new client because I knew how jealous she could be. It felt wrong at the time, but in retrospect, it was about protecting my independence more than anything else.
